Coming to Medulienka in Levice is like coming home

We were looking for women who changed their communities. In small ways. In everyday things. They often don’t see what they’ve come up with until a few years later when children tell them how superduper they felt in the mother centers. Women, how their world changed, how they received incentives.

Just try to imagine they weren’t here.

That all those good things would disappear.

So we at least tried to capture moments with Lujza Garajová-Schrameková and Daša Šimeková.

Coming to Medulienka in Levice is like coming home. A normal family home with a big garden. Three bedrooms, a kitchen and a bathroom. But there’s so much going on in there! It’s no longer just a place for mothers and children to play. Rather – it’s a space where the key word is participation and help. They help everywhere where they feel it’s needed. They organize a t-shirt fundraiser for a boy who rips dozens of them every year. They organize a fundraiser of food and things for the war-torn Ukraine and immediately integrate mothers with children who have found a temporary home in Levice. They’re not afraid to welcome moms with disadvantaged children among them without any “but”. Thumbs up!

You can have a look and listen to Martina Šlapáková – Ballová talking about the center.
